Dinner Last Night...

So hubby and I were having dinner with a good friend last night and overheard an interesting conversation between the people at the table behind us.

It was a girl and a guy, sitting behind us at Thai Beer in Marina Del Rey, talking about...well, just about everything. The one conversation that caught my attention was when the girl says to the guy, "You know something? You know what I really don't get? I really don't get this whole MySpace thing...I mean, I don't understand it!"

Uh...what's not to get, honey? It's really not that complicated.

Then again, I think all the cool people have moved on to Facebook...HA HA HA :)

Car Chases & the City of Angels...

WEE-OH-WEE-OH-WEE, WEE-OH-WEE-OH-WEE...

Okay, okay...that is a line in the song, "Mrs. Officer", by Lil' Wayne, but it also seems as though you cannot escape the noise that precedes a high speed car chase in Los Angeles.

Maybe I don't have the right mindset, or perhaps I just flat-out don't understand...but I can't seem to figure out why people who speed off with the 5-0s in hot pursuit would rather go to jail than pay the one month in child support they owe (or whatever the "injustice" happens to be). I personally believe it's because they know they'll probably be broadcast on all of the local news channels (if they go fast enough, and be just reckless enough) and end up with their 15 (or 60) minutes of fame. In this example (http://www.presstelegram.com/news/ci_10954131), the pursuee probably figured, "Heck, I already stole the car, might as well get on TV!"

I guess, as the old joke goes, to some, having their own "room" to sleep in and three square meals a day is better than their existing reality...

It all started with a seemingly normal Thursday Night College Football game, featuring the USC Trojans and the Oregon State Beavers, playing in Corvallis, OR. Short version of that story is that the mighty Trojans didn't go home winners - they lost to Oregon State 27-21.

Saturday wasn't a good day for some other top-ranked teams either: Florida lost by 1 pt, Georgia got rolled by the Tide, Wisconsin was beaten in the Big House...can't wait to see the rankings tomorrow.

Of course, the blogs and comments have already started since the fall of the Men of Troy on Thursday night - the BCS needs a playoff system. Yes and no, I can see both sides.

On a side note, ESPN is hosting "Battle of the Bands and the Quest for the Crystal". :) Starting on September 29th, people can go to the special "Indiana Jones" themed micro site to vote for one of seven marching bands playing the "Indiana Jones" theme song. Of course, the marching band from Hollywood (USC Trojan Marching Band) is competing for this title...it wouldn't be an "Indiana Jones" themed contest if they weren't in it. :) http://promo.espn.go.com/espn/contests/indianajones/

Hysterical!

One thing to note, however, is the fact that Californians obviously only have a view of the lower 48 states. Hawaii and Alaska must be beyond their peripheral line of sight.

If I had to group Hawaii in there somewhere, it would be included with California, but labeled as "More Awesome". Don't forget the 808!
